Informational Model of Consciousness: From Philosophic Concepts to an Information Science of Consciousness

Consciousness is an informational projection in the mind of seven subsystems: three form an operative system for short-term adaptation, three form a programmed operating system for body maintenance and long-term survival, and the seventh is an information pole connecting the organism to external information, including extra-sensorial properties. The human body is a bipolar info-matter structure managed by the brain, absorbing and emanating information as a reactive system for adaptation, operating with both matter-related (codified) and non-matter-related (virtual) information. This model allows investigation of consciousness using information science tools and addresses the mind-body problem and the hard problem, showing correspondences with ancient philosophies.

Near-Death Experiences and Immortality from the Perspective of an Informational Modeling of Consciousness

Near-death experiences, occurring when the heart and brain have ceased activity, provide a tool for investigating whether consciousness continues to exist independently of bodily functions. The abstract raises the fundamental question of whether consciousness persists after the cessation of heartbeat and brain support, drawing on improved investigation methods and successful life-saving interventions that allow analysis of symptoms recorded during such experiences.
