Is It Time to Advance the Chemoprevention of Environmental Carcinogenesis with Microdosing Trials?

Cancer Prevention Research December 1, 2009 Thomas W. Kensler, John D. Groopman

This perspective discusses using microdosing with environmental carcinogens to speed up the evaluation and improvement of chemopreventive interventions. It considers the need for chemoprevention of environmental carcinogenesis, the structure of microdosing or phase 0 trials, the technologies required for such studies, and ethical concerns. It also reflects on what microdosing studies have taught so far.
