Breve histórico da ressignificação da Ayahausca na religião Santo Daime

Ayahuasca, a psychoactive tea used for millennia by native Amazonian populations, has since the early 20th century been adopted by non-indigenous people, acquiring new contexts and meanings. One such context is the Santo Daime religion, a Brazilian Christian faith with an essentially oral culture. This article analyzes how Ayahuasca was resignified within this religion between the 1930s and 1960s. The hypothesis is that this resignification is part of a broader dialectical process of social construction of meanings that underlies the religion's formation.
