The Ritual View and Inner Workings of Mongolian Shamanic Healing: Analysis from a Freudian Psychological Perspective

Mongolian Diaspora Journal of Mongolian History and Culture October 23, 2025 Oonos Narna

Shamanic communication with spirits, often viewed as irrational, holds cultural and spiritual healing power that modern science struggles to replicate. Reason does not demand the elimination of irrational elements like emotion, mystical fantasy, or religious belief; instead, it requires understanding and critically balancing them. Drawing on Freudian psychology, the analysis examines the irrational qualities of Mongolian shamans, highlighting differences between Mongolian shamanic beliefs and the nature of religion, as well as the laws governing their operation.
