UPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap Study on Rat Urinary Metabolites of 5-Methoxy-Alpha-Methyltryptamine

The metabolism of the psychedelic drug 5-MeO-AMT was examined in rats. After a single injection, three metabolites appeared in the urine: OH-5-MeO-AMT, α-Me-5-HT, and N-Acetyl-5-MeO-AMT. The main chemical changes were O-demethylation, hydroxylation of the indole ring, and acetylation of aliphatic amines. These findings help identify and screen for the drug in toxicology and forensic settings.
