Nondestructive Mind Uploading and the Stream of Consciousness
Keith Wiley preprint
A common view of nondestructive mind uploading holds that the original person's stream of consciousness continues only in the original body, making the upload a mere copy. This paper argues instead for a branching identity model, in which both the original and the upload are equally valid continuations of the preoperative person's stream of consciousness, each experiencing a separate, genuine continuation.
