Nursing Student's Experiences of Meditation on Twin Hearts During Eight Weeks Practice: A Qualitative Content Analysis.

SAGE Open Nurs January 1, 2021

Nursing students who practiced Meditation on Twin Hearts (MTH) for eight weeks reported positive affective experiences, health benefits, problem resolution, heightened awareness, energy sensations, and prosocial tendencies. The meditation involves blessing the earth and praying for societal well-being through loving-kindness, self-healing imagery, and open awareness. Twenty-two students provided daily feedback and answered open-ended questions. Their verbatim descriptions were abstracted into 17 elements, 6 properties (positive experiences, awareness, energy, tangible outcomes, physiological reactions, and feedback on the program), and 2 categories. The findings suggest MTH may enhance well-being and serve as a self-care measure for nursing students.
