EFFECTS OF DHIKR SPIRITUAL MEDITATION PRACTICE ON THE RECOVERY OF DRUG ABUSER: A PHENOMENOLOGY STUDY

International Journal of Education, Psychology and Counseling June 30, 2024 Rozeeda Kadri 1 citation

Islamic dhikr spiritual meditation, a practice rooted in the repetition of divine names or phrases, can aid recovery from drug addiction by fostering spiritual changes, shifts in thought, and emotional and behavioral transformation. A qualitative study of six recovering drug addicts at an Islamic rehabilitation center who regularly practiced dhikr found that consistent meditation had a clear impact on their cognition, emotion, and behavior. The findings suggest that healthcare professionals and counselors should consider individuals' belief, values, culture, and spiritual paradigm to develop holistic drug addiction therapy.
