THE PHILOSOPHY OF CONSCIOUSNESS WITHOUT AN OBJECT

Вісник НЮУ імені Ярослава Мудрого: Серія: Філософія, філософія права, політологія, соціологія June 10, 2025 Khrystyna Khvoinytska-Pereima 7 citations

Consciousness without an object—awareness not directed at any thought, perception, or sensation—is examined as a philosophical concept. Drawing on Eastern traditions (Zen Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta) and Western phenomenology, the paper explores the theoretical foundations and implications of such a state. It argues that objectless consciousness challenges conventional understandings of self and reality, offering a different view of awareness that is not defined by its contents. The analysis considers the existential dimensions of this mode of consciousness and its potential to reshape ideas about the nature of mind and experience.
