The Psychedelic Frontier: A Cross-Specialty Review of Healthcare Providers' Attitudes on Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy in the US

Healthcare professionals hold cautiously favorable attitudes toward psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) for conditions like depression, PTSD, and addiction, supporting further research and education. Their main concerns involve psychiatric and neurocognitive risks, addiction relapse, and a shortage of trained providers. A systematic review of 11 U.S.-based articles found that psychiatrists and psychologists were overrepresented in the literature. The review underscores the need for interdisciplinary collaboration, increased awareness, training, and education in psychedelic medicine, with guidelines from the American Psychedelic Practitioners Association emphasizing licensure and continued professional development to facilitate PAT's integration into clinical practice.
