[Cannabis and psychosis--a review].

A review of clinical and epidemiological studies on cannabis and psychoses finds that very high doses of cannabis can induce a brief psychosis, but this condition is extremely rare and should be diagnosed only after excluding other causes. Evidence on whether cannabis use raises the risk of developing a psychotic disorder in vulnerable people is not conclusive. Cannabis use appears to worsen the course of schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Adolescents face higher risks from cannabis use than older people and should be strongly advised not to use it.
