Embodied cognition: looking inward

The body is not a neutral factor in cognition even when not directly involved in a task; internal neural processing must account for the body's possibilities and limitations. Goldman's concept of bodily formats (B-codes) provides a starting point for analyzing internal processing in embodied cognition. The paper argues that research on embodied cognition needs a conceptual shift toward evolutionary and comparative studies, examining how cognitive processing works for organisms with particular body morphologies (size, shape, sensors, effectors). Current embodied cognition research insufficiently incorporates evolutionary, neural, and morphological perspectives.
