Integrating Cognitive Science with Islamic Philosophy: Emergence and Current Challenges

Islamic philosophy has contributed to the development of cognitive science through concepts such as heart, soul, reasoning ('aql'), cognition ('marifat'), contemplation ('fikr'), meditation ('zikr'), and mental processes like 'tafakur', 'tadabur', 'taakiloon', and 'iqra'. This paper discusses the integration of these ideas with modern research in neuro-theology, religious mantras, and spiritual connections. It outlines basic building blocks of cognitive science from an Islamic perspective, including ilm (knowledge), mind, heart, soul, reasoning, language, intellect, and mystic cognition. The work also examines the future role of religious sciences in advancing cognitive science, highlighting contributions from notable Islamic thinkers.
