The Javanese Mysticism of Poet Yasadipura as a Means to Achieve World Peace

Jurnal Javanologi June 30, 2025 P. Purwadi 2 citations

The mystical philosophy of Javanese poet Kyai Yasadipura, rooted in Javanese mysticism (kebatinan), emphasizes inner harmony (rasa sejati), humility (andap asor), balance between material and spiritual life (lahir–batin), and unity with the divine (manunggaling kawula lan Gusti). These concepts offer ethical and spiritual insights for contemporary global challenges and can serve as a cultural foundation for achieving world peace. The study interprets Yasadipura’s classical texts using a hermeneutic qualitative method, showing that his mysticism is spiritually profound and culturally transformative, prioritizing peace through personal enlightenment and collective moral awakening. The work positions Javanese mysticism as a viable philosophical framework for global peace education and character development.
