Buddhism, unlike other Indian philosophical systems, gives consciousness a central role without elevating it to a transcendental metaphysical level, which creates a special affinity with the phenomenological approach. This paper examines points of contact between phenomenology and Mindfulness meditation, a Buddhist spiritual practice. It first describes four kinds of Mindfulness meditation from the Buddha's sermons, highlighting core features such as objectivity, impermanence, and dynamic yet passive awareness. The second part compares the two approaches: both regard consciousness as intentional and propositional, emphasize immanence, bracket transcendence, and exhibit a scientific, presupposition-less temperament.
