Psychedelic drugs are emerging as promising alternatives for treating resistant depression, where many patients do not respond to conventional therapies. A systematic review of scientific articles from 2015 to 2025 will analyze clinical studies, randomized controlled trials, and systematic reviews on neurobiological mechanisms, therapeutic outcomes, adverse effects, and ethical aspects. The research aims to consolidate knowledge on efficacy and safety, highlighting clinical advances and limitations, to support mental health professionals and policy makers. It also seeks to destigmatize medicinal psychedelic use and encourage evidence-based practices to improve quality of life for patients with resistant depression.
