Integrating ecopsychology and transpersonal psychology benefits both fields. Empirical research on nature-based transpersonal experiences, along with the work of Fox and Wilber, shows that nondual transpersonal states are central to both. However, misunderstandings of nonduality have hindered integration. A description of nondual dimensions of Being is presented, along with ways to bring transpersonal practices into ecopsychology.
Transpersonal psychology explores human experiences that extend beyond the individual self, focusing on themes such as nonduality, intrinsic health, self-transcendence, and inclusivity. It incorporates practices like meditation, ritual, and inquiry. The field relates to both mainstream psychology and spiritual wisdom traditions, and has implications for diversity issues, research, and service applications.
