Physiological effects of yogic practices and transcendental meditation in health and disease

Yoga, an ancient Indian way of life incorporating mental attitude, diet, postures, breathing practices, and meditation, shows considerable health benefits. A review of English-language Medline articles found that yogic practices and transcendental meditation improve cognition and respiration, reduce cardiovascular risk, body mass index, blood pressure, and diabetes, and positively influence immunity and joint disorders.
