The effect of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on the Clinical efficacy and psychological state in patients with functional dyspepsia.

Scandinavian journal of gastroenterology August 1, 2024 Xing Long, Wu Liying, Li Zhuoran et al. 5 citations

Adding mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) to standard medication (rabeprazole and mosapiride) for eight weeks led to greater improvements in gastrointestinal symptoms, anxiety, depression, and sleep quality among patients with functional dyspepsia compared to medication alone. The MBCT group had lower scores on scales measuring gastrointestinal symptoms, anxiety, depression, sleep quality, and general psychological distress, and higher scores on a mindfulness scale. Gastric emptying was also tested, but the text does not report the outcome. The findings suggest MBCT can enhance both digestive and mental health in this population.
