Brief Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy in Women With Myocardial Infarction: Results of a Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial.

JACC. Advances February 1, 2025 Tanya M Spruill, Chorong Park, Jolaade Kalinowski et al. 4 citations

A mindfulness-based intervention (MBCT-Brief) reduced stress more than heart disease education among women who had a myocardial infarction and reported elevated stress. In the main analysis, stress scores declined in the mindfulness group but not in the education group, though the difference between groups was not statistically significant. Among women who completed at least four sessions, the mindfulness group showed a significantly greater stress reduction. More frequent mindfulness practice was linked to larger decreases in stress, depressive symptoms, and anxiety. The study did not find significant differences between groups for depression, anxiety, quality of life, or sleep.
