Intraperitoneal injection of 5-hydroxytryptophan and 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine in mice triggered distinct behaviors, notably head twitches and tremors. Tremors increased with higher doses, while head twitches emerged at lower doses but diminished or vanished at higher levels. Specifically, tremors were observed to escalate significantly as dosage rose, highlighting a dose-dependent relationship. The findings raise intriguing questions about the role of serotonin in these behaviors, suggesting complex interactions that warrant further exploration to fully understand their implications.
