I. Kant and the Tradition of Mystical Pantheism in European Philosophy

Kant's philosophical system was consciously based on the metaphysics of mystical pantheism, where the earthly world results from the internal transformation of the apophatic Absolute, and human consciousness is an act of the Absolute realizing this transformation. Space and time, as forms of pure sensory contemplation, express the coexistence of all things in the Absolute. Kant's ontological proof of God's existence is not rejected in the Critique of Pure Reason but made consistent with mystical pantheism: it proves not the existence of God the Absolute (impossible, since God is Divine Nothing) but the presence in consciousness of unconditional being, which is the Absolute's manifestation in finite form, from which the objective world is...
