Cannabis psychosis and paranoid schizophrenia.

Patients with cannabis psychosis were more often violent, panicky, and bizarre in behavior yet retained some insight into their illness, while paranoid schizophrenic patients showed these features less frequently. Rapid ideation and flight of ideas characterized the cannabis psychosis group, whereas formal thought disorder was typical of schizophrenia. The study compared the initial clinical symptoms of 25 consecutive cases of each condition to identify distinguishing features.
