IDENTIFICATION AND DETERMINATION OF 2,5-DIMETOXY-4-BROMOPHENETHYLAMINE (2C-B) IN REAL SAMPLE BY GC-MS METHODS AND DERIVATIZATION AFTER SPE PREPARATION

Bulletin of Natural Sciences Research March 16, 2022 V. Lukić, R. Micić, Živana Radosavljević

A gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method was developed to identify and quantify the psychoactive substance 2,5-dimetoxy-4-bromophenethylamine (2C-B) in urine samples. The method uses solid-phase extraction and derivatization with N-methyl-bis-trifluoroacetamide, followed by separation on a DB-5MS capillary column and detection via selected ion monitoring. Calibration with matrix-matched standards produced good quantitative results. The urine sample containing 2C-B came from an international quality assurance program. The aim was to create a simple, sensitive technique for detecting 2C-B in urine, which remains a priority matrix in clinical and forensic toxicology alongside blood.
